Недавно приобрёл камеру Canon 400D. За небольшое время уже отснял кучу фоток и вот уже подумываю не совместить ли мне приятное с полезным. А именно подработка фотосъёмкой свадеб. С практикой фотосъёмки знаком не понаслышке - имел приличный опыт фотосъёмки с "Зенитом". Прикидываю что для этого нужно.
Объектив в наличии пока только китовый, понимаю что нужен другой, но сейчас не потяну. Реально ли только с китовым? Нужна внешняя вспышка, по деньгам прикидываю тысяч за 6-8, порекомендуйте -какую лучше взять.
Дополнительную карту памяти и аккумулятор куплю. Что ещё нужно? Штатив с "тросиком"- не знаю? , по моему не обязательно иметь.

Недавно приобрел себе в магазине медтехника скальпель. За небольшое время уже изрезал кожаный диван, и едва не прирезал свою собаку, и вот уже подумываю не совместить ли мне приятное с полезным.
А именно поработать кардиохирургом. С практикой хирургии знаком не понаслышке имел приличный опыт работы консервным ножом. Прикидываю что для этого нужно.
Скальпель пока незаточен и только один, понимаю что нужен другой, но сейчас не потяну. Реально ли только одним скальпелем сделать аорто-коронарное шунтирование? Нужен еще кровостанавливающий зажим, по деньгам прикидываю тысяч за 6-8, порекомендуйте, какой лучше взять. Вату и тампоны куплю сам.
Что же еще нужно для хирургической операции? Трокар полостной и пинцет тканевый не знаю, по моему не обязательно иметь.

This is my best friend and a "boyevoy tovarish" through med school and residency - Jen. she wanted pictures from the hospital to be used in her wedding slide show. (who ever came up with that wedding slide show idea???). turns out hospital is an awesome location for pictures, with all the huge windows'n all.

Baby admitted to the hospital to get some bililights for a high bilirubin.
Bilirubin went down nicely. I stop by to examine the baby before she goes home.

Me: Do you have any questions?
Mom and Dad: yes, how come mom's blood type is O(+), baby's blood type is A (+), but dad's blood type is B?
Me: (in my head) whats the mailman's blood type????

10 minutes before end of shift. full waiting room. i'm trying to be nice and see another patient before i leave - looking through the patient names and triage notes. 4-mo with constipation. i bet i could do that in under 10 minutes.

Happy healthy 4-month-old boy
me: what brings you to the ED?
mom: baby is constipated, no poop for 4 days.
me: any changes in the diet?
mom: no he is breastfed and we supplement with formula
me: did you start baby foods?
dad: no, but we did give him a bunch of chinese food the other night

.... blah blah blah.. the usual questions... in the middle of that:

mom: before coming to the emergency room i gave him a suppository and he had 2 large stools.
me:.... great... you can go home now! i'm glad i could be of help!

of note, this encounter took place after they waited for 3.5 hours in the waiting room :-)

yesterday I took care of a 14-year-old girl who was brought to the emergency room by her father for severe stomach pain and 40 minutes later gave birth to a healthy baby. The girl did not say a word the entire time. She just stared into my eyes and screamed at the top of her lungs with contractions, without ever breaking eye contact.
After the fact, the girl said that she could not possibly have been pregnant and that she never wants to see the baby.

For the rest of the day - urine beta-HCG for everyone over 10 years old!!! (regardless of chief complaint)

in the spirit of Val's rapidly approaching third birthday (he is, by the way very excited about it, totally into the party which i have no energy or desire to plan), I started wondering when is it no longer appropriate to take baths together with your son and for him to see you naked in general.

I especially started wondering when recently Val asked me as we sat in the bathtub together: "Mama, can I pour water on you?" I replied: " yes, but not on my hair please", to which Val said: "can i pour it on your boobs"?

I'm thinking, perhaps kindergarten would be a good time to introduce some naked boundaries, mostly because its the time they start discussing that kind of stuff with friends in school.

hmmm...
